Hello, World.

First, to answer your question:

“Adrianne, why in God’s name are you forcing me to update my bookmarks, my links, my RSS feeds . . . again? Can’t you ever just choose a worthwhile domain name and stick with it?”

Apparently, no. Sorry about that.

For the record, that’s close like “please close the door, there are cowboys and indians shooting outside” not close like “you know, I don’t think we’re particularly close.” Other changes you may or may not enjoy:

  • * You can comment now on any post, easily and without registering for any external site nonsense.
  • * All of my sordid archives are gone! (They’re safely archived, and some may resurface later on this site. Feel free to contact me if you’re looking for something.)
  • * Fancy new links! Fancy new content management! Fancy new look!
  • * Categorized posts. (I was technically doing this before, but not telling you. Mostly because I didn’t know what I was doing.)

But most importantly, I wanted this new domain because I wanted to take this site in a new direction. I’ve been blogging since my freshman year in college, and all of this time, “blogging” has been a fancy and unembarrassing way of me to say “writing a diary for the world to see, because, you know, whatever.” After six years, it started to feel like wearing clothing that didn’t fit any more. I wanted to start posting flash fiction, poetry, stick figure collections, I didn’t know — but the precedent was weighing heavier than the potential. I kept falling into the same patterns. I needed a new notebook. I needed to throw something away.

So here we are.

I’ve been contemplating something like this ever since my host shut down my mt-comments script. But who has time to write a new template?

  3. Adrianne Says:

Heh. Notice how the last post is from January? That’s when I was about half way into it, and all I was doing was modifying someone else’s freakin’ template.
